Letters, 1856.

Copies of letters to Henry Dodge from J. Y. Smith, editor of the Angus newspaper, regarding Dodge's failure to appoint Smith to a position in Madison, Wis. after years of faithful support through his paper, recounting events from 1830 on including the 1848 constitutional convention, reminding Dodge of how Smith helped his political career, and stressing the lack of a favor in return. Also present is an 1828 letter from Smith to his sister; and "The Ideal Man," an address delivered at the first commencement of the University of Wisconsin, 1854.
